Pass With Dom Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions are an important part of your driving tuition.
I, Dominic Brough, am the proprietor and representative of Pass With Dom.
Be fit to drive: prescribed drugs may affect your driving. It is your responsibility to ensure you are fit to drive. You must hold a current and valid driving licence which must be produced on your first driving lesson, and at regular intervals throughout your training as requested. You must disclose any medical conditions which might affect your driving at the start of your tuition. Any changes to your driving licence due to medical conditions or driving convictions must be communicated to me immediately. Please ensure that you present yourself in suitable clothing, particularly practical footwear. It is also important to attend lessons with any appropriate glasses or contact lenses for reasons of road safety. If I think you are unfit to drive for failing to meet any of these conditions, the lesson will be cancelled at your expense. I cannot accept responsibility for any injury, loss or damage arising from a driving lesson.
Payment: Lesson payments must be made at the beginning of each lesson and can be by cash or cheque or bank transfer. Any unpaid cheques will be subject to an administration fee of £15.00. Block bookings must be paid for in full on or before the first lesson of that block. Refunds will only be made in exceptional circumstances and at lesson by lesson prices. If paying on a lesson by lesson basis you will be required to pay for 2 lessons on your first lesson. In case of a late cancellation that payment will cover the missed lesson fee as per the cancellation policy. You will then be required to pay for two lessons the following lesson as to always have one lesson paid in advance. If no late cancellation occurs during your tuition, the extra payment will be returned to you or will cover the payment for the last lesson.
If you suspend taking any pre-paid tuition for a period of 12 weeks or more, any remaining tuition owed will be forfeited. Prices may be changed at any time with reasonable notice.
Cancellation: 48 hours (2 days) notice is required to cancel any driving lesson. If less than 48 hours (2 days) notice is given, half the lesson fee must be paid. If less than 24 hours (1 day) notice is given, the full lesson fee must be paid. If you suspend taking your driving lessons within a block of pre-paid lessons for a period of 12 weeks or more, then any remaining lessons will be forfeited.
I cannot be held responsible for any mechanical or electrical failure which may cause the prevention or termination of a lesson or driving test. If the weather is too severe to take a lesson, I can re-arrange your lesson. The decision will be made considering your ability and any advice given by motoring organisations. If you decide to cancel at short notice due to weather and the conditions are suitable to drive, the lesson will be chargeable.
Lessons: Your driving lesson will be on a one to one basis. If you would like a parent or friend to come along on your lesson, then that can be arranged. You will always receive the full lesson time you have paid for. I will be happy to start and finish your lesson from different locations, providing these are agreed at least one week in advance, and that both are within the usual area of my work.
Penalties: Whenever you are driving in the school vehicle, you will be under close supervision. However, Pass With Dom cannot be held responsible for any infringement of the law. Any fines that are incurred will be the responsibility of the driver.
Practical tests: I will make every effort to help you reach a good standard of driving that will enable you to pass your driving test, and you must try to maintain regular lessons leading up to your test otherwise your test date might have to be moved back to give you more time to prepare. You must give at least 3 clear working days’ notice to the DVSA change your test or you’ll have to pay again. Sundays and public holidays don’t count as working days. The only way to pass the driving test is to be properly prepared. In the interest of road safety, I reserve the right to withdraw the use of my car for tests without prior notice, should you prove to be unsafe and not up to test standard. Use of the car for tests is £80 (may be subject to change) including a one hour pre-test lesson.
Damage to the School Car: During lessons, I will make every effort to avoid damage to the car. However, if I consider that you were driving in a dangerous or unpredictable way during a lesson and actual damage is caused despite best efforts made, you will be expected to pay half towards repairs (up to the level of excess on the instructor’s insurance policy). This will be discussed at the time of the damage. In addition, during driving tests, the examiner will not prevent you, the candidate from hitting the kerb or causing other similar minor damage to the car. Therefore, all damage caused by you whilst on test will be charged to you (up to the level of excess on the instructor’s insurance policy).
Punctuality: I will contact you if I am going to be later than 5 minutes for your driving lesson. The time lost will be added to the end of the lesson if possible or added to another lesson at a later date. If you are late for your lesson, then that time will be lost. If I am unable to keep to an arranged lesson I will endeavour to give as much notice as possible and will rearrange the lesson for a date and time that is suitable for you.
Communications: To ensure that communication channels are in place, please ensure that I am aware of your current mobile and landline numbers.
Holidays and Availability: I will give you notice of holidays or days where I am unavailable. Please ensure that you do likewise. Please be sure to book your first lesson after your holiday or break in tuition, to retain your place on the diary and to maintain progress.
Code of Practice: I will abide by the Voluntary Code of Practice which has been agreed between DVSA and the main bodies representing Approved Driving Instructors.
GDPR: Your contact and training records that are provided to Pass With Dom before and updated during your tuition will be held for the duration of your tuition and up to 6 months following the completion of your training or until you request for them to be removed. These details will not be passed onto anyone. If you would like to review or alter these details this can be requested.
These Terms and Conditions can be adjusted to your circumstances at the discretion of Pass With Dom.

Additional Covid-19 Terms and Conditions:
These have been written following guidance from the National Associations Strategic Partnership who represent driving instructors.
I will contact you the evening before your lesson to check if you have had any symptoms of the virus within the last 7 days or if you know anyone or have been in contact with anyone that is showing symptoms or has been doing so within the last 14 days.
Immediately before your lesson before leaving your house/place of work could you wash your hands following government guidance for at least 20 seconds. Gloves and face masks/coverings are not compulsory, however if you choose to wear disposable gloves these need to be put on just before getting into the car. These gloves will need to be provided by you due to the risk of allergies you may have but you will still need to wash or sanitize your hands before putting them on. If you choose to wear a face mask/covering this will also need to be provided by you.
If confirmed cases of Covid-19 begin to increase Pass With Dom may request that pupils wear a facemask/face covering to reduce the risk of transmission of being in close proximity in the car. Pass With Dom will also wear a facemask. If you don’t bring a facemask/face covering to the lesson these can be purchased for £1 at the beginning of your lesson. If facemasks/face coverings are required for your lesson I will notify you the evening before. If you decline to wear a facemask/face covering your lesson may need to be cancelled or rearranged. The normal cancellation policy will apply.
As I arrive where we arranged, I will meet you at the car. Before you get into the car, we will assess whether you have any symptoms of Covid-19 and whether you are well enough to start the lesson. If I deem that you are not well enough to start your lesson it will have to be cancelled (see amendment to the cancellation policy).
Before your lesson door handles (inside and out), window and mirror controls, driver’s seat and head restraint, driver’s seatbelt and its connection, gear lever, steering wheel including the reach and rake adjuster, indicator and wiper stalks, mirror, as well as the car keys will have been sanitized with anti-viral wipes/spray.
Before you get in the car, you will be provided with hand sanitizer. I will also have cleaned my hands with sanitizer. To reduce the chance for cross-contamination I will not shake your hand and will minimize sharing driving aids such as pens and visual aids. If it is necessary to share I will sanitize the item after use if necessary.
During your lesson the windows will be down as much as possible to allow for ventilation, and you may choose to wrap up warm as it might be cooler in the car.
Due to Covid-19 parents, guardians, or friends will not be able to sit in on the lesson until further notice.
If I need to give a demonstration drive, I can sanitize any contact points before and after the drive if you wish.
Payments for lessons can be cash but I would prefer bank transfer where possible to reduce the handling of cash. If you have paid for a block booking at the end of the lesson, I will write your name in the signature box on the Lesson Payment Sheet.
Amendment to cancellation policy:
If you or anyone in your household becomes unwell and has symptoms of Covid-19, you believe you may have been in contact with someone showing symptoms your lesson will need to be rearranged. There will be no charge for this, but you may need to self-isolate following government guidelines. You will not be able to have a driving lesson for 10 days from this date to reduce the risk of transmitting Covid-19 unless you take a Covid-19 tests and the results come back negative as per current government guidelines
